Saginaw Valley State University is a NCAA Division II school and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. SVSU sports have won National Championships most recently in the Men’s Hockey Division in 2009 for Men's Ice Hockey ACHA Division III and again in 2010 also for Men's Ice Hockey.

SVSU Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer and track. SVSU Women’s sports include basketball, cheerleading, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, track, and volleyball.
