The following is an excerpt from Michigan State University's Athletics website.

There's a reason MSU was named "Best School" of the first decade of the 21st century by Sports Illustrated writer Seth Davis. Actually, there are lots of them.

Start with our heroic men's basketball team, which has been to the Final Four six times in 13 years, and a women's basketball team that finished a stellar season by winning its first all-out Big Ten championship title in 2010-11.

And if you've never experienced a Midwest earthquake, just wait until you're in Spartan Stadium with 76,000 die-hard football fans shouting, "HAROO! HAROO! HAROO!" The Spartans answered that call, winning the Big Ten Legends Division in 2011 and the Outback Bowl in 2012.

Every day, men and women of all abilities demonstrate athleticism, leadership, commitment, and collaboration in 25 varsity sports, adaptive sports, and many club and intramural teams.

For decades, MSU's athletes have proven the keys to winning are hard work and teamwork. Just ask the hundreds of thousands of Spartan fans who proudly claim they bleed green.

Mission Statement:
"We gather and engage our community to teach, support and celebrate our student-athletes in their quest for excellence."
