Fire Destroys Bay City’s Former Van Popplen Block Buildings

First crews on the scene found heavy fire in the one story building. Heat and flames forced crews making an interior attack to pull out of the single story structure.

Firefighters from Essexville and Hampton Township provided manpower and equipment to assist Bay City fire crews.

The building has been vacant for a number of years. The complex is now reprtedly owned by the Midland-based Fisher Contracting. No Dollar loss has been determined.
