Obama Campaigns In Michigan

WARREN, Mich. (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama says the heavy loss of manufacturing jobs is one of the nation's greatest struggles. But he offered hope that attention and investment from Washington can help turn around the troubled industry.
Obama spoke to an invitation-only crowd of about 200 at Macomb County Community College north of Detroit.
The Warren town hall meeting followed a tour of a Chrysler stamping plant in nearby Sterling Heights. Obama has proposed spending 90 million dollars a year to double the Manufacturing Extension Partnership.
The Illinois senator also had an evening rally in Grand Rapids. |
